Gotland fleeces are lustrous and grey, varying in shades from
charcoal to silver. The wool is fine with a good crimp, making it most similar
to Blue Faced Leicester or Shetland of the British breeds. It is fine enough to
be worn next to the skin and is excellent for knitwear, textiles and felt.
Blacker Sheep has raw, washed and carded fleece for sale along with knitting
wool, both light Aran and double knitting. The wool is in four shades, from
near white to dark grey.
Spun double knitting wool or light Aran costs £4.50 for 100 grams. Washed
carded wool costs £2.50 for 100 grams. Raw skirted fleeces cost between £5-10
depending on weight and quality. Tanned sheepskin skins cost between £50-100,
again depending on quality. All prices exclude carriage.
